Arista Networks rode robust AI-related networking demand for its scale-across and scale-out offerings during its third fiscal quarter (Q3), with its still nascent scale-up suite sitting in the wings.

The networking giant posted $3.7 billion in Q3 revenues, which was a near-59% year-over-year increase and surpassed its previous guidance of $3.3 billion. Net income surged a more impressive 83%, hitting nearly $1.6 billion for the quarter.

Nearly all of that revenue came from Arista’s scale-across and scale-out focused platforms, with CEO Jayshree Ullal noting the latter will start to nibble away a bit at share from the former.

“As you've heard us say in the past, scale-across we think will be at least a third. We'll probably go higher in [2027], and so the split this year is roughly 70-30. The split next year, maybe I can't venture to guess, but I think the 70 may come down and the 30 would go up when it comes to scale-across because it's a very strong use case for us,” Ullal said of that mix. “For instance, highly differentiated with our 7800 scale across platform, and unsurprisingly, the word scale means a lot to us there and our customers. Scale for security, scale for performance, scale for reliability and there's just no room for error when you're connecting millions of XPUs. We feel very comfortable that these are our two strongest use cases.”

Scale-up on deck

Those two use cases are set to power outsized growth, with Arista’s nascent scale-up efforts set to also lend a push.

Arista bolstered its revenue expectations heading into its fiscal 2027, with the vendor now expecting up to a 40% year-over-year increase in overall full-year revenues. AI fabric-based revenues are expected to double for the full year to $7 billion and campus networking revenue growth surging 60% to $2 billion.

Arista increased its supply chain purchase commitments to power that opportunity from $9.7 billion during the previous quarter to $11.4 billion in the latest quarter.

Arista also touted a boost in its total addressable market (TAM) to some $200 billion, with its recently unveiled open Ethernet rack-scale architecture based on the Ethernet for Scale-up Networks (ESUN) initiative set to provide a bump beginning in fiscal 2028. That work includes input from a handful of large industry names, with that architecture designed to power high-density scale-up and scale-out AI infrastructure.

“We expect scale-up trials to begin in 2027, driving Ethernet to larger ratings of 126 to 144 within a rack and across the thousands across racks, with production expected for scale up in 2028,” Ullal said of that opportunity.
