altafiber is expanding its XGS-PON fiber network into Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana, adding around 43,000 addresses in the Tri-State area. Construction is set to begin in late 2025.

The broadband expansion includes:

  • In Indiana: Richmond
  • In Ohio: Eaton, Greenville, Washington Court House, and Wilmington
  • In Kentucky: Carrollton
This initiative is part of altafiber’s commitment to provide reliable high-speed Internet essential for remote work, virtual learning, telemedicine, and other daily activities. The company believes that gigabit connectivity is vital for economic development and retention of businesses.

altafiber has invested $2 billion into its fiber network, which now spans over 16,000 route miles. Nearly 100 percent of addresses in Greater Cincinnati have access to fiber services. In 2023, the company pledged to extend fiber to approximately 400,000 homes beyond its existing markets, including expansions in Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana.

“Gigabit connectivity is essential for individuals and families to fully participate in the modern economy, as well as access healthcare and educational opportunities,” said Jason Praeter, President of Consumer & Small Business at altafiber. “We are excited to continue our expansion and deliver an outstanding customer experience while fully engaging with these communities.”
