The event might not be happening, but that doesn't mean we are going to ignore the big trends we still expect to see in the coming weeks.

Digital Ocean grabbed a $300M life preserver; Microsoft imported AWS logs for free; and U.S. Cellular began preparation for March 5G launch.

The announcement marks Cisco's second service provider announcement in the past month.

U.S. Cellular is increasing capex spending in 2020 to a range of $850 million to $950 million, representing a year-over-year jump of 19.7% to 33.8%.

Cisco fused IoT and ML in its Control Center platform; Intel slashed jobs despite a record quarter; and Corning tapped Qualcomm for indoor 5G systems.

The partnership was driven by growing network complexity and a desire from enterprises for greater visibility of underlay and overlay networks.

“We’re not going to convince anybody until you see our first market and you can touch it, and feel it, and see why it’s different,” said Dish's Charlie Ergen.

The Cisco IoT Control Center has also grown from managing 20 million IoT devices in 2016, to more than 160 million connected devices today.

The companies announced a partnership to develop 5G mmWave infrastructure for enterprises and public venues.

Google gobbled up Cornerstone; Blue Planet boosted Ciena's 5G routers; and SentinelOne scored $200M in Series E funding.

Elenion designs system-on-chip silicon photonics technology targeted at telecom operators, data centers, and networking platforms.

"Contracting with the federal government is a privilege, not a constitutionally guaranteed right," U.S. District Judge Amos Mazzant wrote.

Cornerstone’s platform uses automation to convert any programming language or database into any other language or database and prepare legacy workloads for cloud-native environments.

The optical giant says the routers will help network operators achieve the low-latency, high-performance requirements for 5G fronthaul, midhaul, and backhaul transport.

The company claims the appliance is capable of simultaneously juggling millions of connections per second while securing large streams of data.

Dell bagged $2B with the sale of RSA; AT&T shared threat intelligence; and Orange teamed up with Dell on uCPE and VNFs.

It becomes increasingly important as operators rollout 5G networks and enterprises connect billions of new devices to these corporate networks.

The appliances will come in a variety of form factors and run multiple virtualized services, like SD-WAN and security, on a single device.

Automotive and smart city services will account for 70% of all 5G IoT connections by 2025, according to Juniper Research.

The vendor’s Annual Internet Report projects the average 5G speed will be 575 Mb/s by 2023.

This anonymized data from the operators’ security operations centers and investigations is then pooled using AT&T’s OTX platform.

Meanwhile, Arista’s Q4 revenue declined, and took a big hit from cloud and service providers sales.

Huawei is charged with conspiring to steal intellectual property from six U.S. companies, violating a racketeering law, and helping Iran track protesters with surveillance equipment.

Coronavirus killed MWC Barcelona; Cisco CEO weighed in on government 5G investments; and Ericsson tapped bare metal for 5G.
