Happy Friday, everyone! Here’s SDxCentral’s gathering of the week’s news bits around software-defined networking (SDN), network functions virtualization (NFV), and other related topics.

... Cisco launched a cloud-managed IT offering powered by technology from Meraki, the 2013 acquisition associated with management of Wi-Fi networks. Its software is now being blanketed across the entire on-premises infrastructure, including wired and wireless networks. Target customers are enterprises that have embraced the cloud but have to (or want to) keep part of the network in-house. Cloud-managed IT promises to unify provisioning, analytics, troubleshooting, and other operational details for public and private clouds.

... 6WIND released two new software appliances for its Speed Series collection of products. Turbo Router offers throughput of 200 Gb/s or more with 45 percent capacity available. Turbo IPsec, which 6WIND claims is the first software-based IPsec gateway, provides 100 Gb/s or more. Both products can be installed onto standard x86 servers within bare metal and VM environments.

... Cloud security provider Qualys said it has found a vulnerability within the Linux GNU Library. The security gap allows attackers to remotely seize control of an entire system without any prior insight to system credentials. Qualys worked with Linus to provide a patch for affected systems.

... Plexxi received certification for its Plexxi Switch on Cloudera's Enterprise 5 Platform.

... TMForum said Peter Sany will become its president and CEO come March 1.

... Citrix welcomed Robson Grieve as its new senior VP of marketing. He previously was at Concur and Creature.

... Infoblox introduced Cloud Network Automation with three components. The console acts as the centralized graphical user interface to offer visbility and control of VMs; the platform appliance is deployed locally with each private cloud to enable scalability; and the free adapters are for connecting Cloud Network Automation to the cloud platforms from VMware, OpenStack, and Microsoft.

... F5 Networks unveiled its latest version of F5 BIG IQ. The update features deeper collaboration between the network operations center and DevOps teams by managing application delivery centrally. RESTful APIs will be offered to manage the new release devices. Also, as part of its partnership, BIG-IQ will be available with the Cisco Application Policy Infrastructure Controller (APIC), making it a Layer 4-7 option for Cisco's Application-Centric Infrastructure (ACI).
