Intel Misses Q3 Guidance, CFO to Retire

Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger attempted to put a positive spin on the company’s third-quarter 2021 earnings call despite the ongoing chip shortage and long-time CFO George Davis' decision to leave the company.

On the call, Gelsinger touted Intel’s recent successes including the groundbreaking of two new foundries in Arizona and upcoming Alder Lake CPUs, which are slated for release at Intel’s Innovation event.

Gelsinger also lamented the loss of Davis, thanking him for his 15 years of service at Intel. Davis will leave the chipmaker in the first half of 2022.

Gelsinger Brings Geek Chic Back to Intel

Just like Justin Timberlake brought sexy back in 2006, Pat Gelsinger is bringing the geek back to Intel 15 years later.

And with the geek’s return, the recently appointed Intel chief promised to make developers a priority — something he admits “we haven’t done a great job of recently.”

“Let me be clear, Intel’s commitment to you is a developer-first approach,” Gelsinger said. “We can and we will do better. Through the developer community, we are entering a renewed era of innovation.”
