Here are some of the latest executive hirings, promotions, and staff changes that happened in July. There is no shortage of discussion around the lack of diversity in the cybersecurity sector. One of the more vocal companies, Trellix, put a stake in the ground at RSA Conference 2022 when their CEO Bryan Palma said cybersecurity has too many “straight white men.”

Now, Trellix is looking to get on the forefront of mending the diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I) problem. But in order for that to happen, businesses need buy-in from across the organization all the way up to the C-suite, according to the company’s Chief Human Resources Officer Michael Alicea.

“The thing about DE&I is that there’s no magic bullet. There’s no one way to do it,” Alicea told SDxCentral. “[I]t starts with a whole bunch of steps, and the first thing is that the CEO’s got to buy into it.”

Red Hat is changing heads as it continues to power parent company IBM’s ongoing push into the hybrid-cloud market.

Paul Cormier is moving from CEO into Red Hat’s chairman position where he will take on portfolio growth and leadership development at the open source vendor. Matt Hicks, who previously served as EVP of products and technologies, is moving into the CEO position. Both will continue reporting into IBM CEO Arvind Krishna.

Cormier cited Hicks’ more than 15 years with the company and his leadership position in developing the vendor’s widely used OpenShift platform.

Cisco committed to training an additional 200,000 students in the U.S., and Fortinet announced a new free security awareness training program for the U.S. K-12 school districts following the White House’s push to solve the cyber talent shortage that impacts every industry. 

National Cyber Director Chris Inglis convened a National Cyber Workforce and Education Summit at the White House this week to address the more than 700,000-person security talent gap. To lead the effort, the U.S. government introduced a 120-day Cybersecurity Apprenticeship Sprint, working with private sectors to create apprenticeship programs in the security industry.

At the summit, Cisco announced its plan to extend its skill training program to additional 200,000 students in the U.S. over the next three years.

Tom Keane announced he will be leaving Microsoft. 

Aryaka appointed Matt Thompson as its new VP of channel sales. 

AMD appointed Nick Lazaridis as SVP of sales, EMEA, India and APJ.

Ericsson appointed Nicolas Blixell as VP and head of gulf council countries.

Amplitude appointed Thomas Neergaard Hansen as its first-ever president. 

Sourcepass announced Mike Riley as chief revenue officer.
