Diversity Is a Major Hiring Differentiator for Tech Leaders

The technical hiring landscape has drastically changed since the pandemic according to software company Karat’s new 2022 Tech Hiring Trends Report.

Now, one of the major hiring priority differences between top performing and lower performing engineering and talent leaders is diversity.

“Top Performing Engineering Leaders are twice as likely to emphasize diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I) as a priority compared to lower performers,” the report stated. In fact, only 33% of lower performing engineering leaders marked “strongly agree” to DE&I as a hiring priority, compared to top performing engineering leaders at 67%.

Cisco Marketing Leader Migrates to VMware

Cisco‘s executive shakeups are continuing as marketing leader Prashanth Shenoy announced he’s leaving his 22-year tenure at the company and moving to cross-town rival VMware.

Shenoy led Cisco’s marketing of networking, cloud and data center solutions, and strategy, and will fill similar shoes at VMware as the vendor’s VP of cloud platform, infrastructure, and solutions marketing. Cisco declined to comment on Shenoy’s departure.

Amid VMware’s multi-cloud push, Shenoy is poised to be “a perfect fit” to execute the vendor’s broader vision, SVP and GM of VMware’s Cloud Infrastructure Business Group Mark Lohmeyer told SDxCentral in an email, citing Shenoy’s technical background and deep knowledge of common customer challenges.
