Wind River announced support for the Intel Xeon 6 SoC, aiming to enhance cloud-native infrastructure and AI capabilities. This integration is geared towards performance in edge computing and will be showcased at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025. Paul Miller, chief technology officer at Wind River, highlighted the importance of advanced computing for telecom and enterprise sectors, stating that the combination of Wind River Studio Operator and Intel’s latest chipset can provide tailored solutions for businesses. Cristina Rodriguez, vice president at Intel, noted that the service providers can leverage Wind River’s platform to improve network reliability and efficiency.

Wind River's Studio Operator, which is based on the StarlingX project, offers a Kubernetes- and container-based architecture that facilitates the operation and management of distributed cloud networks. The Intel Xeon 6 SoC is optimized for high performance and is expected to yield cost advantages through power-efficient computing.

Wind River has a history of involvement in significant telecommunications initiatives, including achieving notable milestones in 5G deployments. This new collaboration is seen as a move to strengthen their position in the field of edge computing solutions.
