United Kingdom-based service provider iomart added Silver Peak's Unity EdgeConnect platform to its managed services portfolio. The service provider explained that Silver Peak's platform allows for customers to streamline policy updates and enforcement while reducing operational overhead.

"With Silver Peak, we are giving our customers an affordable business-driven network that's designed to maximize the opportunities that today's diverse transport options provide," said Bill Strain, product development director at iomart.

Silver Peak's SD-WAN platform offers SD-WAN, firewall, segmentation, routing, WAN optimization, and application visibility and control in a single package.

"Instead of having to send staff out to manually update policies at every branch office every time a change is made, the whole network is centrally orchestrated," Strain said. "As a result, the IT team can focus on other important projects knowing that the network is optimized to support the business strategy."

The service provider also cited Silver Peak's ranking as a "leader" in Gartner's latest WAN Edge Infrastructure Magic Quadrant report as a reason adding the vendor to its portfolio.

Managed service provider Continent 8 this week launched a cloud Web Application Firewall (WAF) built on the back of Fortinet's FortiWeb platform.

Continent 8's Cloud WAF is designed to help customers secure their applications wherever they are hosted, while also addressing the cloud's expanded attack surface and the growing threat of automated attacks and botnets.

Fortinet's FortiWeb WAF-as-a-service platform, which launched last year, is designed to secure applications deployed in public cloud environments including Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

In a statement, Continent 8 Innovation Director Leon Allen said the MSP's Cloud WAF solution when combined with its existing distributed denial of service mitigation platform will allow the company to offer customers more resilient DDoS and web application protections.
