Performance monitoring company Riverbed today launched its Service Provider Delivery platform as its first product within its newly-created service provider business unit.
This network-as-a-service (NaaS) platform assumes that providers will not need additional Riverbed products. The platform is sold on its own and is designed to help service providers quickly develop and deploy services.
The platform comes with a set of developer tools to roll out services and allows providers to easily layer services on top of one another, says Irina Farooq, vice president of product management and strategy for Riverbed’s new service provider business.
The platform also comes with visibility and customer assurance, so providers are able to see how their customers’ services are performing, and the platform is able to automatically provide fixes if there’s a problem. For example, if an application or service isn’t scaling properly, the platform can send more capacity to ensure that it deploys correctly, Farooq says.
“This allows service providers to have a relationship with their customers to really understand which services customers are using, how they’re using them, and the quality of the use,” she says.
