Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) announced it is now selling Mesosphere’s data center operating system (DC/OS) software with container support on HPE servers. This isn’t a huge shock, considering HPE led Mesosphere’s $73.5 million C Round last year.
For Mesosphere’s part, the arrangement provides new exposure to HPE’s enterprise clients.
Mesosphere DC/OS is a commercial version of the open source Apache Mesos platform. An alternative to Kubernetes, DC/OS pools compute resources across the data center and simplifies application deployment and management. It also allows for applications to be moved around in containers to other locations, or even to the public cloud.
HPE is launching Mesosphere DC/OS from HPE subscriptions, together with HPE support. Mesosphere’s DC/OS will initially be available on HPE’s ProLiant servers.
