Hydro One Telecom this week launched its managed SD-WAN offering built around Fortinet's Secure SD-WAN platform.

The Toronto-based telecom claims the service will provide customers with the tools they need to support both their network evolution and cybersecurity needs.

"With the acceleration of cloud adoption, companies are realizing that legacy networks lack the flexibility, resources, and applications needed to power today's digitally transformed marketplace," said John Papadakis, Hydro One Telecom CEO, in a statement. "To protect against ever-evolving cyber threats, companies must integrate cybersecurity into all aspects of their IT operations."

At the heart of the offering is Fortinet's SD-WAN platform, which bundles advanced routing and next-generation firewall capabilities into a single platform.

Hydro One Secure SD-WAN is also designed to integrate with existing WAN services like MPLS, allowing customers to transition to a hybrid WAN environment while taking advantage of multi-cloud connectivity from the branch office.

Further, the service provider claims the service will offer a vastly improved user experience, security, and lower WAN operating costs.

Fortinet’s Growth

Fortinet has seen strong growth in recent months as it has steadily expanded its service provider business.

This growth has helped the SD-WAN and managed security vendor to weather uncertain times brought about by COVID-19 and the related recession. Earlier this month, Fortinet announced $576.9 million in first-quarter revenues, which increased 22% year over year.

While Fortinet expects revenues to continue to grow in the next quarter, the vendor pulled its full-year 2020 financial guidance due to "increased uncertainty."
