Equinix and Nimbo, a company Equinix acquired in January, are catering to their business customers’ increasing appetite for Amazon Web Services (AWS), today announcing two new products to make it easier to connect with AWS within Equinix data centers.
“We are seeing significant growth in enterprise customers looking to connect to AWS in our facilities, and specifically in a hybrid model,” says Greg Adgate, vice president of global technology partners, Equinix, in a release.
Equinix says that in 2014 it experienced a 90 percent increase in the number of enterprise connections to AWS.
The new AWS Direct Connect Converged Infrastructure bundles enable businesses to use the same storage and network management tools they use in their private clouds as they migrate to public or hybrid architectures. Customers who want to connect a private cloud to AWS can locate their infrastructure within any Equinix data center that features an AWS Direct Connect access node. The new bundles include deployment tools from Nimbo, NetApp’s NPS capability, and Cisco Intercloud Fabric.
Equinix and Nimbo also announced the Equinix Cloud Exchange, providing enterprises with configuration and testing services for AWS along with the customer routers attached to the Equinix Cloud Exchange. This provides an immediately useable cloud account and connection.
