Palo Alto Networks scored another high-profile service provider partner in Telekom Security, Deutsche Telekom’s managed security services business.
The security vendor also recently partnered with Google Cloud and AT&T.
Under the new Deutsche Telekom-Palo Alto Networks’ deal, the two companies will offer enterprise customers managed security services for cloud and network as well as security operations. This will include managed virtual next-generation firewalls for VMware-based private clouds and public clouds — Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Microsoft Azure, Oracle Cloud, and Alibaba Cloud. Palo Alto Network’s virtualized firewalls also use infrastructure-as-code automation, which makes it easier for customers to deploy and configure.
Additionally, the managed services will include cloud security using Palo Alto Networks’ Prisma Cloud platform that supports multiple clouds. Prisma combines the vendor’s homegrown technology with acquisitions to provide four key cloud security capabilities: visibility, governance and compliance; compute security; network protection; and identity security. It also includes DevSecOps abilities that can detect vulnerabilities and fix configurations in code while in the continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) process. This helps customers integrate security early and throughout the application lifestyle.
The managed services also stretch to remote and mobile access at the edge of the network using secure access service edge (SASE) networking and security from Prisma Access. Just last week Palo Alto said it acquired SD-WAN vendor CloudGenix for $420 million to further boost its SASE Prisma Access technology.
Managed SOC ServicesAnd finally, the partnership will develop managed threat detection and response based on Palo Alto Networks’ Cortex security operations suite.
The Cortex products, which provide threat detection and response for customers through orchestration, automation and machine learning (ML), will run the Telekom Security managed security operations center (SOC). This includes Cortex XDR, a detection and response platform that integrates network, endpoint, and cloud data to detect and mitigate attacks. It also includes the Cortex XSOAR (extended security orchestration, automation and response) platform, which Palo Alto Networks rolled out at the RSA security conference in late February.
“Hackers massively try to infiltrate the cloud, network, and mobile phones of companies. And the attacks are becoming more and more sophisticated,” said Telekom Security SVP Dirk Backofen in a blog post. By partnering with Palo Alto Networks, Deutsche Telekom can “better fend off attacks on companies in real time” for the operator’s more than 70,000 global customers, Backofen added.
