Netrounds is now integrated into some aspects of CA’s Network Operations and Analytics platform. This allows for CA to provide automated testing and data retrieval gathered from Netrounds’ technology, said Tim Diep, director of product management at CA Technologies.
The data from Netrounds is then consolidated and compared with live network data using CA’s analytics platform and user interface. The joint product can be used in software-defined wide area network (SD-WAN) environments, traditional WAN environments, in on-premises data centers, or software-defined data centers.
However, CA is highlighting the new offering’s ability to monitor Cisco environments like iWAN, Viptela, and Cisco ACI. “CA recently introduced phase one of SD-WAN monitoring for the live [Cisco] network,” Diep said. “Netrounds represents phase two of our strategy, which is to compliment live network monitoring with active test prediction. We believe that modern automated networks require both live and active automated testing for optimal assurance.”
CA said it can monitor SD-WANs and environments provided by other vendors. However, the company appears to be angling to be the primary monitoring solution for Cisco’s up-and-coming SD-WAN suite. Cisco is in the process of acquiring Viptela for $610 million to help boost its SD-WAN portfolio.
The new offering will monitor and test network features like video quality, voice quality, testing of enterprise applications, and Layer 2 and 3 active testing.
CA is targeting enterprise customers that want to monitor WANs or data centers, and service providers deploying virtual CPE.
This is CA and Netrounds’ first major partnership, and Diep said they plan to introduce more integrations in the future.
