The news was reported yesterday by CRN, a publication that covers the tech sales channel, appropriately enough.
Gupta spent six years at Juniper, most recently serving as director of worldwide partner development and investment strategies. He’ll be building up Big Switch’s sales channel from scratch.
That Big Switch reached into Juniper’s ranks isn’t so surprising, considering CEO Douglas Murray, hired in November, came from there.
Murray’s job was to lead Big Switch’s transition away from overlays and into a strategy of providing software for bare-metal switches. In December, he appointed Jeffrey Wang, formerly of Cisco, as vice president of engineering. And in February, he added another Juniper veteran, Joe Palazola, as vice president of operations and customer support.
