NTT Data Business Solutions picked Aviatrix to deploy its network-as-a-service (NaaS) offering across all public cloud environments offered by the managed service provider (MSP). Rod Stuhlmuller VP of solutions marketing at Aviatrix, said his company's cloud networking platform will allow NTT Data to deliver consistent cloud networking, security, and operations.

NTT Data delivers IT services to enterprise customers in any public cloud environment, with secure cloud networking one piece of its product catalogue. Stuhlmuller told SDxCentral he anticipates this integration will result in increased customer satisfaction, reduced business risk, and increased margins for the highly touted MSP.

The partnership will give NTT Data “the cloud automation and agility their customers expect with the enterprise-grade visibility and control they need to deliver their services in the most efficient manner,” he added.

NTT Data needed visibility and control capabilities for its large enterprise customers, and “they did not want to outsource this to a NaaS provider,” Stuhlmuller explained. Although black-box NaaS services might work for mid-market businesses, enterprises providing services internally and MSPs providing services externally need to support business-critical applications and services that often span multiple customers or lines of business.

In those scenarios, enterprises and MSPs “require the full visibility and full control to maximize service availability,” which means “there’s zero-tolerance for downtime.” By partnering with Aviatrix, NTT Data is effectively operating its own NaaS based on the vendor's cloud networking platform, Stuhlmuller said.

“In addition to full visibility and full control, [NTT Data] needs the ability to deliver customized and self-service multicloud automation and proactively control their cloud networking and security to optimize service availability and performance,” which Stuhlmuller claimed are capabilities not available from other NaaS providers or native cloud provider services.

Aviatrix recently introduced a joint service with Equinix that provides high-performance encryption of complete enterprise environments and multicloud connectivity. The service uses Equinix’s Network Edge technology that Aviatrix uses to deploy its edge software for Equinix customers via the digital infrastructure provider’s marketplace.
