Kyndryl introduced new cloud-native services that Public Cloud Services Director Anthony Dasari claims harness "the velocity of innovation from both the hyperscalers and Kyndryl to deliver better business outcomes in a highly dynamic market."
Kyndryl is the completed spinoff of IBM's managed services business. Dasari explained in an interview with SDxCentral that the new services support the company's ambitions to accelerate cloud application modernization for its customers at scale.
"While there is high adoption to cloud native, companies need help accelerating adoption while also driving innovation, efficiency, and cost savings," he said, citing Gartner projections that cloud-native platforms will be foundational to more than 95% of new digital initiatives by 2025.
The vendor's cloud-native services framework comprises code assets, workflows, standard methodologies, enterprise scale expertise, and end-to-end lifecycle management services. This extends "from consulting to management with integrated services around deployment, automated backup, patching, observability, security, alerting, and incident management," Dasari said.
To then migrate, modernize, and optimize critical workloads in hybrid or multi-cloud environments, these services connect with cloud adoption frameworks from hyperscalers like Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure.
"Our approach provides a faster route to innovation via enhanced developer productivity for businesses by maximizing the use of native cloud services to design, implement, and operate the workloads on the cloud of their choice," Dasari explained. Enterprises can focus on core expansion activities rather than "the nuances of the underlying cloud platform they run their applications on," he added.
Kyndryl's cloud-native operating model takes advantage of hyperscalers' services and cloud-native tooling to provide complete lifecycle services for cloud-native and non-native apps. In this way, the vendor's services provide "a faster path to innovation, more cost-effective cloud migration and modernization, the integration of other technologies like AI [artificial intelligence], quicker cloud deployments, and more resilient applications," according to Dasari.
