IBM is acquiring Red Hat for $34 billion in a move to boost its presence in the hybrid cloud and open source software space. VMware, Cisco, and Silver Peak all scored top marks in Gartner’s latest ranking of top WAN Edge infrastructure vendors. Microsoft said it would offer alternative employment options for employees opposed to its recent bid on the Pentagon’s $10 billion cloud computing contract. T-Mobile and Sprint posted positive financial results but didn’t provide any new insight into their 5G plans.
