Deploying SD-WAN in a Multi-Cloud World

Sponsored By: Riverbed Technology

In a multi-cloud world, security and visibility can be extremely challenging.  But SD-WAN helps solve many of those issues because it offers a more uniform security model. SD-WAN also makes it possible to access certain data, applications, and other assets more easily.

Legacy WANs, which were developed back when networks were much simpler, have security options and policies that must be set manually, making them more inefficient than SD-WANs.

Another advantage of SD-WAN is its resilience. If a WAN link fails, it is fairly easy to move to another link.

While SD-WAN can make some aspects of multi-cloud easier, it can make other aspects more challenging. For example, network monitoring can be more complicated when using SD-WAN. Legacy WANs were closed systems and all the data was readily available. But with SD-WAN everything is dynamic.

That’s why artificial intelligence and machine learning are so critical. AI and ML can be used to track and monitor important data and get better results than manual monitoring.

This eBrief from SDxCentral looks at the advantages to using SD-WAN in a multi-cloud environment and will also explore how network performance monitoring can be handled in this type of SD-WAN deployment.
