Citrix Automating Load Balancing Demo Synopsis:
Although software-defined networking (SDN) is still relatively new, the technology has come a long way in a short time. When it first emerged a few years ago, the concept of SDN was unbeknownst to many, and what would come of it was even more uncertain.
Now, major vendors like Cisco are embracing SDN and creating production grade networks. As it continues to evolve and find its way into our businesses, it’s important to ask ourselves if we are still on the same trajectory we were when the term “SDN” was originally coined.
In a special Citrix DemoFriday, Citrix’s Steve Shah and Chiara Regale show how Cisco ACI and Citrix NetScaler join together to address Layer 2-3 services and Layer 4-7 services, respectively. Their demonstration answers questions about the malleability of networks and how it can scale-out in ways we only used to imagine.
Other areas also highlighted in the presentation include:
- The progression of service integration
- Advances in automation
- Understanding of DevOps-expertise to manage infrastructure
- Real life uses of SDN and how customers are moving the technology forward
