The 2015 DemoFriday library features presentations that demonstrate working SDN/NFV/virtualization products to the SDxCentral community. The real-world examples take SDN/NFV from the theoretical to the practical so you can improve your network and solve pressing business problems today with real SDN demonstrations.
Usually presented by the CTOs, software architects, and product managers who helped develop the NFV and SDN products, DemoFridays help you understand SDN/NFV’s capabilities and limitations as well as how the emerging markets are developing.
Q&As about the NFV and SDN products follow every DemoFriday, giving you the chance to learn from colleagues in the networking community as well as the presenters themselves. Become a part of the influential community responsible for driving change in networking today and check out previous DemoFridays below, or keep your eye out for upcoming presentations.
Access to the DemoFriday archives is limited to SDxCentral members. To become a member today, join here —membership is free! (Information may be shared with content partners.)

For the most part, managing a wide area network (WAN) and metropolitan area network (MAN) is tedious, especially with a software-defined network (SDN). Between complex orchestration needs, limited scalability, and complex protocols — wouldn’t it be great if there were a simpler way to meet your SDN orchestration dreams? Let Cisco help your dream become a reality with Segment Routing.
SDxCentral’s Scott Raynovich joined Cisco’s Technical Marketing Engineers Jose Liste and Derek Tay as they demonstrated how Segment Routing can be utilized to help achieve scalable end-to-end policy, operational simplicity, and better utilization of the installed infrastructure thanks to centralized optimization. Infrastructure programmability in the data center is a big deal as it drives automation and efficiency which, in turn, drives speed – an obvious prerequisite for the success of just about any business dealing with digital disruption. In part 1 of Cisco’s Open NX-OS series, we touched on the programmability and automation capabilities of Open NX-OS, and how it drives efficient IT operations. Read More >
Brocade will demonstrate the best-practices methods and latest tools available for achieving on-demand virtual networks with advanced routing and L4-7 services such as firewall or IPsec gateways. The demo will showcase Brocade products such as the Brocade SDN Controller (a commercial distribution of OpenDaylight), the Brocade vRouter and Brocade vADC, within an OpenStack environment. This example will help you gain ideas for implementing Layer 4 through 7 services at need. Learn critical tips and tricks on your path to software-defined networking (SDN) and innovations intended to ease your migration to a more automated and programmable data center. Read More >
So what is NX-API REST all about? First we need to understand the challenge today. As data center networks become more virtualized and move toward cloud and agile IT models, managing these networks through CLI or other means doesn’t allow for operating the infrastructure as a single system. This is no longer sufficient.
Telco NFV is not about virtualizing the different telecom applications and simply deploying them on a couple of servers in any data center. There are many aspects to consider, and an important key success factor for telco NFV is to seamlessly provide connectivity between the telecom operator’s IP/MPLS network and their cloud environment.
