Nuage Networks and Palo Alto Networks discuss the integration of the leading next-generation firewall into the Nuage Networks SDN platform and the benefits of security policy automation and network provisioning.
Nuage Networks Security Webinar – The Killer App for SDN is Security Policy Automation & Monitoring
Software Defined Networking (SDN) promised to usher in a new era of network automation for IT and cloud deployments. But on-demand network provisioning, optimization and reconfiguration turned out only to be the beginning. With the evolution of cloud architectures and the demise of the trusted network, the complexity of security policies and the infrastructure to support them has exploded by orders of magnitude. The same SDN principles that configured overlay networks for automated, on-demand application deployment can be brought to bear on security devices (both physical and virtual) to eliminate operational complexity, errors and time-to-deploy.

But there are also additional requirements placed on the SDN platform for it to be ideally suited for security policy automation. A flexible and open service insertion and chaining capability is required that can integrate with a wide range of virtual and physical security appliances and solutions. The SDN policy console also has to integrate smoothly with security policy management platforms to fully leverage third-party solutions and maintain security policy processes. The correlation of virtual and physical network topologies is even more crucial for secure networks to facilitate troubleshooting, fault isolation and validate compliance. SDN platforms thus have to include a unique set of security analytics and monitoring capabilities that go beyond what was initially envisioned for the network and SDN platforms.
The result of SDN-based security policy automation is a new generation of use cases that go beyond traditional micro-segmentation, and beyond traditional security policies based on network attributes alone. The Nuage Networks SDN platform delivers logical network isolation and micro-segmentation through its own virtual router/switch, as well as in conjunction with leading security appliance vendors.
In the webinar, Nuage Networks is joined by Palo Alto Networks to discuss the integration of the leading next-generation firewall into the Nuage Networks SDN platform and the benefits of security policy automation and network provisioning.
