When it comes to attributes that are important in an NV solution, there continues to be discrepancies between what end-users are looking for and what technology vendor participants think are the most important attributes. “Scalability” claimed the top spot amongst end user participants this year, at 42%, but was only chosen by 20% of technology vendor respondents. (note, “Scalability” was the most picked attribute back in 2015 so it’s clearly a consistent requirement from end-users). “Ease of Implementation” was first amongst vendors and third with end-users.
The degree to which “Cloud Management Platform Integration,” and “Support for L4-7 Feature Sets,” was ranked as important by vendors versus end-users was stark by contrast. Cloud integration was chosen by 35% of vendors, versus 21% of end-customers, and while 24% of vendors chose L4-7 support only 6% of end-users chose it. This could speak to the different perspectives of the groups—customers are looking at operationalizing their deployments, while vendors are often looking ahead at the features and capabilities they need to deliver. Interestingly, both agreed that “Openness/Interoperability” was a priority, ranking it second. This trends with last year, where openness and interoperability was viewed as most important by all participants.
