We aim to facilitate the development of network hardware and software – together with trusted project validation and testing – in a truly open and collaborative community environment.

OCP is bringing to networking the guiding principles that OCP has brought to servers & storage, so that we can give end users the ability to forgo traditional closed and proprietary network switches in favor of a fully open network technology stack.
The Open Compute Networking project drives specifications for fully disaggregated and open networking HW & SW. SW includes Linux based operating systems & developer tools and SDKs (ONIE, ONL, SAI, SONiC). On the hardware front, it includes designs for standard switches (and servers), and facilitates a series of OCP-accepted switch designs from numerous manufacturers. In addition, it has energy efficient power and cooling designs for data center racks.
