Video Traffic Manager VNF
Openwave Mobility’s Video Traffic Manager is a Virtual Network Function (VNF) that enables intelligent virtualized optimization and TCP acceleration of web and video content. This VNF is designed to ensure the most efficient use of RAN and network resources, maximizing network capacity without sacrificing the end-user experience. The solution provides operators with the means to transparently manage next-generation IP traffic streams to handle both encrypted and unencrypted traffic flows and orchestrate value-added services. All of this functionality is delivered from a single-point, virtualized solution.
Key features include:
– Video acceleration and optimization
– Encrypted video acceleration and optimization
– Web content and audio content acceleration and optimization
– QoE driven to deliver a huge improvement in Quality of Experience to subscribers determine the end-user QoE and optimize accordingly for quick start, smooth, no stutters.
– Congestion aware –activates only when network traffic is high.
Video Traffic Manager offers many unique features to help operators manage soaring video traffic, as the only solution in the industry to manage HTTPS, Google’s QUIC and Facebook’s 0RTT video delivery. The solution can be hosted in the cloud or in-network without any disruption, as well as deployed in a fully virtualized NFV environment with dynamic scaling that complies with the industry’s initiatives for NFV.
As the basis for the Video Traffic Manager, Integra’s highly modular architecture, low latency and high performance for both the signaling/control plane and the data/user plane are the capabilities required to be selectively and intelligently in the content path. This is key to managing access, the user experience of the flow, assigning bandwidth/policy and developing new policies and service. Integra is agnostic to hypervisor and can be deployed in KVM and VMWare environments on COTS hardware with ESXi hypervisor and vCloud. It is orchestrated using OpenStack API.
The Video Traffic Manager solution integrates with a number of key providers for virtualization architecture including Openwave Mobility’s key partners Cisco, HP and Huawei. This solution has demonstrated considerable improvements in video and web optimization as well as QoE, including:
— Web pages load 40 percent faster
— Video stall time reduced by up to 64 percent
— Subscribers’ effective throughput increased 24 percent.
