User expectations and technology capability are driving up network data rates. Although technologies such as DWDM, SDN, NFV help to reduce infrastructure costs, revenue generated from network users is not growing in line with network costs.
This requires operators to demand greater awareness and control from vendors of policy control and charging (PCC) systems, to enable understanding of traffic flows in their networks and use this information for intelligent routing, policy enforcement and charging.
The Telesoft (T-TDF) provides high throughput application detection and in-line control (ADC) for policy and charging control systems such as PCEF, PCRF, OCS, OFCS, and interconnects on vendor independent, standard 3GPP defined interfaces.
This enables vendors of charging and policy control systems to equip operators with the ability to improve margins, monetize OTT content and protect revenues by charging for and managing different traffic types.
The TDF from Telesoft is built on a combination of DPI and heuristics, running in a hybrid hardware accelerated and software environment. Unlike software-only implementations, this enables a system to scale to 100GbE without additional hardware. Software-only DPI is not able to run at these speeds.
With user programmable Application Detection and Control (ADC) rules, the T-TDF enables policy and charging systems to implement differentiated charging for content users and content providers depending on the application being used, user identity, time of day or any combination. Application awareness also allows blocking, throughput limiting or re-routing of traffic based on the same rule-set.
Integration with any vendor’s policy and charging system is implemented in 3GPP defined Sd/Gy/Gz interfaces, avoiding vendor lock-in and enabling integrators to choose the most efficient, compact, highest throughput PCC system components.
