About Sideband SightSensor Platform
Network administrators need powerful tools that offer smart notifications and intuitive displays of real-time information in order to quickly analyze and diagnose network performance issues. Sideband Networks tackles this problem using live streaming traffic gathered from key points in a LAN.
Sideband’s SSP (SightSensor Platform) solution receives copies of network traffic from common monitoring technologies, including spans, taps, mirrors and Netflow connections. A reference set of SSP appliances (including a virtual machine implementation vSSP) handle 1Gbps up to 40 Gbps of live network traffic and house Sideband’s software. Information from the SSP solution can be shared, correlated, and aggregated across a central management system to offer a unified view of the network and its remote offices for visibility and change management for an entire LAN, WAN or data center. SSPs act as sensors to process traffic from networking devices, hosts and filters/concentrators. Data is analyzed in real time and displayed with an advanced GUI. The key technology that sets Sideband apart is the real-time use of deep packet inspection (DPI). 10 Gbps flows, with a qualified 0% traffic drop, are inspected to identify which of more than 1,400 applications and network protocols are in use.
