About MobiVita RANFaster
Using Intel and cloud technologies, MobiVita has developed RANFaster, an LTE congestion control solution that addresses network congestion in a way that optimizes available network bandwidth while maintaining quality of experience. Mobile Network Operators (MNO) apply RANFaster for automatic real-time analysis of data traffic in RAN to discover network traffic trends, detect where and why congestion is going to happen and carefully relieve it.
RANFaster uses comprehensive mechanisms of MobiVita’s Deep Packet Inspection (DPI) to determine a congested cell and a reason of traffic overflow. It eliminates an ongoing congestion using precise mechanisms of real-time traffic shaping, policy control for individual subscribers, Quality of Experience-aware flow prioritization. Flow control techniques are differentiated by application and content type.
RANFaster can greatly accelerate content delivery of selected websites, services and traffic types. The product also permits to set the delivery priority including user-defined management. This allows MNO to apply new monetization schemes by providing special paid services of content delivery acceleration to content providers, CDNs, web-stores, websites etc.
RANFaster helps MNOs to better monetize existing network resources. MNO can evolve the network in a strategic and cost effective way by providing unique services for subscriber’s traffic like Turbo-button. Turbo-button – the ideal solution for those who prefer high-speed Internet. When the button is activated, the speed is temporarily increased. The service can be activated as often as needed, the only requirement is a positive balance at the subscriber’s account.
RANFaster and the Cloud
RANFaster utilizes two cloud-hosted components: the Radio Access Network (RAN) Probe and the Quality of Service Advisor. They are instances of network functions virtualization (NFV) and may be used in software-defined networks (SDN). They can be used in conjunction with stand-alone enhanced packet core (EPC) servers or with NFV-based EPC implementations. This allows RANFaster to be instantiated, provisioned, and connected with other EPC elements at the same time as the NFV-based EPC is deployed or expanded. It also allows RANFaster components to be quickly combined with other third-party services, such as Quality of Experience assurance software, local caching, and location-based services
