Rackspace Cloud Networks
Secure networks in the cloud
Get fully isolated, single-tenant cloud networks, giving you complete control over your network topology, IP addressing (IPv4 or IPv6), and architecture. Cloud Networks are regional in scope—so you can attach them to any Cloud Server in a given region, and attach Cloud Servers to multiple networks. It’s all easy to manage through our Cloud
Control Panel or powerful APIs.
Cloud Networks are software-defined, powered by the OpenStack networking service, and provide programmatic access for creating networks and attaching/detaching Cloud Servers. And it’s all included for free with your cloud account. Want help architecting your cloud? Learn more about our cloud service levels.
Need to create complex topologies to route traffic between Cloud Networks or to external data centers over VPN? Combine Cloud Networks with Brocade Vyatta vRouters.
SecureEach Cloud Network is a fully isolated, single-tenant layer 2 network—designed to provide secure transfer of your sensitive information between Cloud Servers in a region. You can also create Cloud Servers without Public or Private (ServiceNet) network interfaces, and make them accessible only through Cloud Networks.
FlexibleWith Cloud Networks, you control both the IP addressing (IPv4 or IPv6) and the topology. For example, you can create a Cloud Network between your web and application servers, and another Cloud Network between your application and database servers. You control the topologies, so you can create networks that best suit your application.
Enables high availabilitySince IP addresses on Cloud Networks can be used by other Cloud Servers on that network, you can create highly available internal Cloud Servers with fast IP address failover (using traditional automatic failover mechanisms vs. the need to make a separate API call). Cloud Networks also include full support for broadcast and multicast, which is required for some clustering technologies.
