Open Network Adaptor
A recent winner of Tech Target’s Network Innovation Award, The Avaya Open Network Adaptor is a unique card-deck size adaptor – enabled with an Open vSwitch – that plugs into devices such as x-ray machines, video surveillance cameras, slot machines and more – to convert these devices into intelligent network nodes. When enabled with the Avaya ONA, these end points can now be monitored and managed; their networking capability centrally administered and controlled.
Environments such as hospitals, manufacturing floors, and casinos are experiencing a proliferation of devices requiring network connectivity, many of which require at least some degree of mobility. Many of these devices run older operating systems that can’t necessarily be patched or secured through an intrusion prevention system or a host based firewall. ONA creates isolation for those devices, so that they are confined to a mission-specific network, isolating it from other traffic and systems and limiting its ability to compromise the wider network fabric. It also eliminates the manual configuration of these devices and enables the device to connect securely on an as-required basis enabling dynamic service connectivity and activation.
