Nokia Mobile Edge Computing
The Nokia MEC platform is a feature-rich, future-proof, multi-vendor, multi-technology application platform running on Intel architecture.
It implements an Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) environment, to which MEC applications are flexibly deployed, managed and removed.
The Nokia MEC platform can be inserted transparently into LTE networks, offloading traffic from several S1 interfaces of macro-cellular base stations or small cells at line rate. The lifecycle of MEC applications is managed independently of the underlying mobile network.
As well as LTE networks, the Nokia MEC platform also supports unlicensed wireless access technologies. This ensures MEC is also a viable technology for venue owners, enterprises and industry verticals.
