Lithium SMS Platform
Existing short message service centers (SMSCs) are no longer meeting operator needs. SMSCs have not kept up with the technology curve in terms of the cost of the equipment, performance and operating efficiency. They lack message-handling flexibility and do not support advanced features such as First Delivery Attempt (FDA), real-time pre-paid charging, SPAM control and real-time service monitoring; which would help operators significantly improve the efficiency and performance of their networks. Legacy SMSCs were designed to handle the relatively predictable traffic created by simple person-to-person text messaging. Unlike simple texting, applications such as tele-voting create large spikes in signaling traffic, which can strain the capacity of the SMSC and create network bottlenecks.
NewNet Lithium SMS Network is a continuation of the Tekelec Mobile Messaging portfolio acquired from Tekelec.
Lithium SMS Router
NewNet’s SMS Router cost effectively handles SMS traffic and enables operators to lower the cost per SMS message. It frees up legacy SMSC capacity by using first delivery attempt (FDA) for mobile-originated (MO)/application-originated (AO) messages. With FDA, SMSCs only have to handle approximately 15 percent of the message traffic that truly needs to be stored until delivery can be completed. This approach can extend the life of capacity-stretched, legacy SMSCs.NewNet’s Lithium SMS Router cost effectively handles SMS traffic and enables operators to lower the cost per SMS message. Lithium SMS Firewall
NewNet’s Lithium SMS Firewall enables operators to respond immediately to new threats via the use of an innovative rule-based screening and filtering engine. The intuitive, web-based configuration tool enables instant response to changing spam threats and service requirements, while maintaining the highest possible quality standards.
Lithium SMS Store
NewNet’s Lithium SMS Store is a flexible, modular solution that enables operators to deliver advanced messaging without costly network over-engineering or overhaul. With the NewNet Lithium SMS Store product, operators can grow SMS capacity and capabilities incrementally or create a complete, end-to-end SMS solution whilst reducing CAPEX/OPEX spend.
Lithium IP Short Messaging Gateway
NewNet’s Lithium IP Short Message Gateway (IP-SM-GW), which is in line with relevant 3GPP specifications, acts as a bridge, managing the origination and termination of SMS messages between circuit-switched and IP-based networks. With the solution, mobile operators can use existing messaging platforms such as short message service centers (SMSCs) and multimedia message service centers (MMSCs) to deliver IP-based messaging. The system determines in which domain recipients reside through home location register (HLR) or home subscriber server (HSS) queries and delivers the messages accordingly. If the message cannot be delivered on the first attempt, it is sent to a storage facility such as an SMSC or MMSC for retry later.
