The iwNetworks SDN series of high-performance L2/L3 network switches are ideal for data centers and cloud computing. Seamlessly integrate them into a standard environment with its unique hybrid configuration, which allows for the concurrent operation of industry-standard L2/L3 protocols and industry-leading OpenFlow. Users can experiment by controlling the level of adaptation of an open network fabric, making it ideal for both enterprise and research data centers.
The SDN series of switches are comprised of enterprise-class hardware with 1GbE and 10GbE options. The switch provides redundant, hot-swappable AC or DC PSUs and redundant fans, with port-to-power and power-to-port airflow options. The SDN series runs IWOS, a Linux-based operating system that integrates L2/L3 protocols with an OpenFlow v1.0/v1.2 agent. With support for open switch applications, IWOS provides a programmatic API for custom switch programs and protocols.
The SDN 8952S switch is designed for high-availability data center environments with a high port density of 48 10GbE ports and 4 40GbE ports in a 1RU enclosure. The switch includes redundant, hot-swappable, load-sharing AC or DC PSUs, a hot-swappable fan tray with n+1 redundant fans, and port-to-power and power-to-port airflow direction options. Meeting network scaling requirements of enterprise and cloud data centers, the SDN 8952S can be deployed as a top-of-rack switch or as part of a distributed spine network, providing full line-rate switching at Layer 2 or Layer 3 across all ports.
