NEC/Netcracker Hybrid Operations Management (HOM)
NEC/Netcracker Hybrid Operations Management (HOM) is focused on enabling virtual and traditional networks to operate simultaneously at scale. HOM leverages years of proven expertise in end-to-end service management and MANO and fills the gaps in today’s solutions for automating hybrid network management, including assurance, continuous optimization, security and stability.
NEC/Netcracker HOM includes:
• ETSI-compliant Real-Time MANO – providing immediate reaction to ongoing events and responsible for VNF management and NFV orchestration with basic monitoring capabilities.
• Multiple microservice-based products divided by subdomains (Service Assurance, Service Optimization and Service Security) – providing full automation for extended lifecycle management for services and network functions, covering not only classical telecom operations but also new operations added from IT.
• E2E Service Orchestration – binding all the components together and delivering a new level of abstraction – E2E Hybrid Service.
LSO and Operationalization of SDN/NFV
LSO is a central element to operationalizing SDN/NFV. It enables service lifecycle management in a hybrid physical-virtual environment by integrating with existing BSS/OSS layers and managing multiple NFV domains, reaping the benefits of virtualization while meeting operator KPIs and end-user service level agreements.
However, LSO must be implemented with a fully modernized BSS to operationalize NFV and commercialize NFV-based services. Without the benefit of modernized BSS functions available in the cloud, it will be impossible for service providers to monetize new services and applications, and by extension, operationalize NFV. LSO also needs to integrate with an agile collaboration environment, designed to automate end-to-end service lifecycle management using a DevOps approach. NEC/Netcracker brings all these components together in our Agile Virtualization Platform and Practice (AVP), shown in the figure below, with a focus on operationalizing and commercializing SDN/NFV services.
HOM is one of three core components of AVP that helps simplify service providers’ transition to virtualized networks and, ultimately, their transformation into digital service providers by supporting greater cross-department collaboration, enabling the use of digital front-end applications and simplifying end-to-end service management. The Virtualization Development and Operations Center (VDOC) is another core component for DevOps and Agile service design and delivery. VDOC works with the end-to-end orchestrator to create a dynamic and continuous feedback loop between product and development environments, enabling fully automated LSO. The third component is Business Enablement Applications to modernize BSS functions.
