Evolved Packet Core (SDN EPC)
Mavenir’s Virtualized Evolved Packet Core (EPC) is a software-based, carrier grade solution that can be deployed on cloud-based infrastructures using Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) to rapidly scale capacity and adapt to new deployment models. The EPC is specifically designed to optimize the deployment of data and voice services for mobile operators transforming their networks to 4G LTE. Mavenir’s EPC solution provides a full suite of standards-defined wireless functions (SGW, PGW and MME) on a virtualized software platform that provides mobile operators the flexibility and cost efficiencies needed to cope with burgeoning growth in mobile data traffic.
The Mavenir SDN EPC is based on a unique architecture that combines NFV and SDN technologies into the Evolved Packet Core and is ideally suited to address the challenges of managing the explosive growth in mobile data traffic and real-time communication services that will be driven by Voice over LTE. The Mavenir SDN EPC solution is fully virtualized with independently scalable control and media planes, and has the unique capability of managing distributed GTP-aware forwarding planes from a centralized SDN Controller.
