The Brocade Vyatta Network OS can be deployed as the NFVI Host OS on the customer premises device. Additionally, the OS can also be deployed as a VNF on an ESXi or KVM based hypervisor. Both deployment options provide advanced core networking services – routing, stateful firewall, IPsec and NAT services. Deployed as the NFVI Host OS, integrated Lifecycle Management of VNFs is inherent and integrated service chaining for VNFs. The Vyatta OS when deployed as the underlying Host OS for vCPE is managed as a router providing Netconf/YANG interfaces for VNF Management and device management.
The Brocade Vyatta Network OS is deployed as a Router, Firewall, NAT or VPN VNF when deployed in a cloud based model within the COP/POP. It is the virtual access and edge demarcation point between Customer Edge and the Provider. Integration for OpenStack and other NFV-O tools provide methods of Lifecycle Management through plugins or through standard interfaces utilizing Netconf and Yang.
