Altiostar’s vRAN solution connects the intelligent remote radio heads with the virtualized compute nodes over ANY TRANSPORT. It could be dark fiber, lit fiber, WDM, FTTx, carrier ethernet, microwave, mmWave or anything else carriers have. Whatever transport is economically and readily available, carriers can use it.

Altiostar believes LTE Advanced is essential in increasing the spectral efficiency of LTE systems. The vRAN solution provides features such as CoMP and Carrier Aggregation that are required to provide necessary co-ordination across multiple radio heads. Additionally, Altiostar’s vRAN solution uses deploy intelligent eNodeBs that understand applications and application states and detects user’s streaming video flows over default bearer and adapts them to the instantaneous radio conditions.

Altiostar has announced that in cooperation with SK Telecom, the largest mobile operator in Korea, it has successfully completed a field trial of its vRAN technology in Bundang, Korea. During this field trial, performance and capacity improvement with key LTE-A features such as carrier aggregation, uplink CoMP were validated. The trial utilized SK Telecom’s existing transport network.
