Zscaler and CrowdStrike added integrations for joint customers that the partners say provide identity-centric and zero-trust security across data, people, devices, workloads, and networks.

Zscaler started out as a secure web gateway provider before adding firewall, zero-trust network access, and out-of-band cloud access security broker capabilities to its platform. All of this positioned Zscaler perfectly to dive into secure access service edge (SASE) when Garter coined the term, and now it’s a SASE market leader.

Last year, Zscaler acquired Edgewise Networks to add that company’s zero-trust networking and application microsegmentation technologies to its platform, which also gave it a SASE boost.

CrowdStrike, meanwhile, is a top extended detection and response (XDR) vendor and comes at XDR from its endpoint detection and response (EDR) roots. The security company, which provides anti-virus protection, EDR, and managed threat hunting from its cloud-based platform, last month said it reached a $400 million deal to buy Humio and boost its XDR technology.

Zscaler, CrowdStrike Integrations

Zscaler is CrowdStrike’s first cloud security partner to leverage CrowdStrike Zero Trust Assessment (ZTA) in general availability. This enables secure access to applications from any endpoint regardless of the user or location. It uses telemetry from CrowdStrike’s Falcon platform that processes more than 5 trillion events a week, and then grants dynamic conditional access based on continuous real-time security posture assessments of device health and compliance checks.

Additionally, through an integration with Zscaler Private Access (ZPA), access to private applications can be automatically adapted based on the ZTA assessment score and updated access policies from Zscaler.

The companies say the integrations will offer four key benefits to their mutual customers:

  • ZPA incorporates CrowdStrike’s real-time ZTA to enforce access policy to private apps to reduce organizational risks.
  • Zscaler Internet Access deployed inline stops malware propagation by triggering device quarantine through the CrowdStrike Falcon platform.
  • CrowdStrike’s Falcon X threat intelligence and Falcon Endpoint Protection device telemetry data can be shared with Zscaler Zero Trust Exchange to improve protection and increased visibility.
  • Cross-platform workflow shortens response time and helps combat increasing volumes and sophistication of attacks.

Zscaler and CrowdStrike first partnered in 2019 to integrate the CrowdStrike Falcon platform with Zscaler’s cloud security platform to provide customers with real-time threat detection and automated policy enforcement to improve security across networks and endpoints.
