Zayo has announced a $90 million investment to enhance fiber infrastructure across Tennessee. This initiative aims to bolster key network routes, improving connectivity to major data centers and educational institutions, thus supporting economic growth and innovation statewide.
The project introduces advanced network infrastructure to accommodate hyperscale and data center campuses, essential for burgeoning high-bandwidth demands such as artificial intelligence (AI).
Headquartered in Nashville, Zayo Education has been providing essential connectivity solutions for nearly 30 years, connecting urban and rural communities. As Tennessee's top E-Rate services provider, Zayo currently connects 94% of the state's school districts, ensuring students can access digital learning securely.
Michael McKerley, Senior Vice President of Zayo Managed Services, stated, “Zayo’s $90 million investment in Tennessee is a testament to our continued commitment to bridging the digital divide and powering the state’s future”. He noted that this expansion will enhance network reach, improving internet access for K-12 education and supporting Tennessee's growing digital economy.
This funding follows Zayo's recent infrastructure expansions, including the plans announced earlier this month to acquire Crown Castle's fiber solutions business and the unveiling of a project to add over 5,000 new fiber route miles to support increasing AI workloads.
Zayo's focus on enhancing connectivity reflects its commitment to providing critical infrastructure for urban and rural areas in Tennessee, addressing the digital divide.
