VeloCloud’s software-defined wide area networking (SD-WAN) Security Technology Partner Program gained momentum as the company added its latest members including Symantec, VMware, and Forcepoint.

These new members join the initial set of partners including IBM Security, Check Point Software Technologies, Fortinet, and Zscaler.

Because the companies’ technologies in the program are interoperable, SD-WAN customers will be able to implement within their networks the security products of their choice, covering branch, data center, and cloud security. The goal is to offer a choice in SD-WAN security and reduce costs that are related to appliances and manual operations.

For example, IBM Security integrated VeloCloud’s SD-WAN with its QRadar SIEM solution as part of its managed security services suite. IBM QRadar provides a single pane of glass view for threat monitoring of cloud services, branch offices, and private data centers connected by VeloCloud.

VeloCloud’s security partner program includes network security interoperability in the branch as well as security virtual network function (VNF) integration. Using VeloCloud gateways, the company is able to direct traffic to security operations centers for further inspection.

In addition to its own security partner program, VeloCloud is also a member of the Symantec Technology Integration Partner Program, which facilitates the integration of various technologies to mitigate security risks in enterprise networks.

Similarly, VeloCloud is one of many other SD-WAN companies that have partnered with security vendor Zscaler as a member of its partner ecosystem. Other SD-WAN members include Riverbed, Nuage, Citrix, InfoVista, Silver Peak, and Talari Networks. Zscaler said its network is well-suited for enterprises deploying SD-WAN technologies because it has more than 100 data centers around the world.
