The U.S. Navy is looking for a contractor to run the fiber optic systems connecting its ships, submarines, and shore-side support.
The Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD) in a request for proposal (RFP) is seeking full life-cycle support for Navy fiber optic networking, covering research and development (R&D), ship construction support, and operations and maintenance for fielded cable systems and plants.
In a statement of work (SOW), the U.S. Navy’s Virginia-based R&D arm says the winning contractor will have a day-to-day role supporting the Navy as a technical direction agent, system integration agent, in-service engineering agent, and fiber optic test and repair certification agent across major surface and submarine platforms.
According to the SOW, platform engineering teams will be required on both the East and West coasts, as well as a possible full-time team member based in Japan.
The solicitation says the incumbent is Advanced Integrated Technologies, described in the document as a small business.
The Navy expects to award the winning contract on October 28, 2026, with operations beginning January 25, 2027.
