Telia Norway skied onto the rapidly accelerating SD-WAN market with the launch of a branded offering powered by Nuage Network's SD-WAN 2.0 platform.
The Telia SD-WAN service will enable customers to rearchitect their networks using lower-cost broadband connections or shift traffic onto dedicated IPsec tunnels for more reliable communications. Alongside conventional connections it will also support connectivity using the company's 5G network.
Telia Norway is the second-largest telecom operator in Norway and offers a range of consumer and enterprise-focused services, which now includes SD-WAN.
According to Jon Christian Hillestad, Telia Norway's head of enterprise, as data traffic and applications grow ever larger and enterprises shift their applications to the cloud, SD-WAN becomes essential.
The announcement represents a win for Nuage Networks, which, according to Gartner, relies heavily on its network of more than 70 network and managed service providers to get its product to market.
"Our SD-WAN 2.0 technology will provide Telia with a powerful platform for offering advanced digital services to support cloud connectivity and automation," Nuage Networks CEO Sunil Khandekar said in a statement.
Attracting Network Service ProvidersNokia took a step toward further expanding its NSP network earlier this year when the company announced it was one of three SD-WAN vendors to receive the MEF 3.0 SD-WAN certification. The certification, developed by MEF, aims to help network operators and IT professions choose an SD-WAN vendor with confidence.
As part of the certification, Nuage's SD-WAN 2.0 platform was tested by Spirent Communications against the MEF 70 SD-WAN Service Attributes and Services standard.
