Synopsys, Inc. has introduced the first Ultra Ethernet IP and UALink IP solutions aimed at addressing the industry’s growing demand for high-bandwidth, low-latency interconnects for AI and high-performance computing (HPC) applications. These solutions support large-scale data center infrastructures essential for processing extensive AI workloads and models.
The Ultra Ethernet IP will enable data rates of up to 1.6 Tbps, catering to connections for as many as one million endpoints. Meanwhile, the UALink IP solution is designed for efficient throughput of 200 Gbps per lane, linking up to 1,024 AI accelerators. Both technologies are built upon a foundation of Synopsys’ established Ethernet and PCI Express (PCIe) IP offerings, which have been used in over 5,000 successful customer deployments.
Key industry players, including AMD and Juniper Networks, are collaborating with Synopsys on these initiatives to enhance the scalability of AI and HPC infrastructures. Officials from these firms underscored the importance of these developments in facilitating robust, interoperable solutions that can efficiently support the rising demands of AI processing.
The availability of the Ultra Ethernet IP solution is projected for the first half of 2025, with the UALink IP following in the second half of the same year.
