SonicWall is pushing toward becoming a full-service cybersecurity firm, bringing in Michael Crean to manage its new managed security services division.

Crean founded managed security service provider Solutions Granted, which SonicWall acquired in late 2023.

Having served as the firm’s SVP for managed security services following the acquisition, Crean has now moved upwards to take on the SonicWall division, which offers co-managed and fully managed cybersecurity solutions.

Crean’s appointment comes as SonicWall is pushing into managed services, competing with vendors like Cisco, Barracuda, and WatchGuard. The firm offers a license bundle for its software services and support, touting it as a way to “remove the burden of firewall administration.”

California-based managed security service provider Napa Valley Networks is among the firms working with SonicWall in this space, having picked up its SonicSentry offering to support its security operations.

“This is the new SonicWall: responsive, partner-led, and ready to deliver what MSPs need to succeed," Crean noted in a statement. "Managed security services aren't just part of our future, they're a core layer of every security solution we sell.”
