SonicWall's 2025 Cyber Threat Report reveals a rise in cyberattacks targeting small and mid-sized businesses (SMBs). The report highlights that hackers are exploiting new vulnerabilities on average within two days, contrasting with the 120 to 150 days it typically takes organizations to apply necessary patches. This rapid shift in the threat landscape shows that businesses, regardless of their size, may not be able to effectively counter these attacks independently.

The report documents significant increases in various cyber threats, including an 8% rise in ransomware incidents in North America and a staggering 259% increase in Latin America. Additionally, malware attacks have shown an upward trend of 8% year-over-year, with Internet of Things (IoT) attacks surging 124% and encrypted threats rising 93% globally.

As part of their commitment to assisting SMBs, SonicWall announced plans to expand its network of managed service providers. The aim is to offer businesses enhanced cybersecurity support necessary to combat evolving threats.

Additionally, ransomware attacks are particularly acute in the healthcare sector, representing 95% of breaches within that industry.
