Sivers Semiconductors has secured a contract to develop advanced digitizers for Intelsat's satellite communication (SATCOM) terminals, utilizing the NXP Layerscape platform. This collaboration aims to enhance the performance and cost-effectiveness of Intelsat's terminal operations.
The development focuses on creating high-performance single-channel and dual-channel digitizers that conform to the Digital Intermediate Frequency (DIFI) standards. These digitizers are integral to a variety of applications within Intelsat's network, enhancing services that include mobility and government communications.
“Our differentiated wireless technologies and design capabilities continue to find strong product-application fit in the SATCOM market segment. This most recent design win with Intelsat is a testament to our products and solutions moving beyond early adopters and attracting mainstream blue-chip customer engagements as we continue to build pipeline momentum,” stated Vickram Vathulya, CEO of Sivers Semiconductors.
Harish Krishnaswamy, Managing Director of Sivers Semiconductors' Wireless Division, noted that this partnership marks a significant progression in their offerings within SATCOM as they aim to enrich their digital and systems expertise. Mass production is anticipated to start in 2026, further boosting Sivers' competitive design wins to a total value exceeding $19.7 million in recent months.
Salim Yaghmour, Director of R&D at Intelsat, emphasized the importance of the digitizer in their digital ground architecture. He remarked that it supports their digital transformation initiatives, enabling greater flexibility in terminal management and configurations while ensuring compliance with the DIFI standards, thus guaranteeing interoperability and cost efficiency for the long term.
