SES announced the successful launch of its seventh and eighth O3b mPOWER satellites through a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket from Kennedy Space Center. These additions will enhance the company's medium Earth orbit (MEO) satellite system, which currently includes six operational satellites.

The newly launched satellites feature redesigned payload power modules and will help SES deliver high throughput and low latency services. Since its service initiation in April 2024, the O3b mPOWER has provided high-performance network services across various regions, including Asia-Pacific, Africa, the Middle East, and the Americas.

Adel Al-Saleh, CEO of SES, commented, “O3b mPOWER is our most powerful, technically advanced, flexible satellite constellation in space. As we increase the number of satellites in our constellation, we also exponentially increase the capacity and efficiency of our network.” He stated that the system has become crucial for customer connectivity experiences.

The O3b mPOWER system consists of an initial constellation of 13 satellites and massive ground infrastructure. Five additional satellites are set to be manufactured and launched in the next 18 months.
