ServiceNow is reportedly in talks to buy identity management platform Veza Inc.

A report from The Information cited sources placing the deal at more than $1 billion, building on a 2023 investment from the enterprise vendor’s investment arm, ServiceNow Ventures. That funding round, co-led by Capital One Ventures, totalled $15 million. Following a Series D round in April of this year, the cybersec startup is valued at $808 million.

Founded in 2020, Veza offers an identity security solution aimed at enterprises operating in the cloud with minimal insight into access permissions for its data. Customers include CrowdStrike, AMD, Workday, Snowflake, and Zoom, with the firm sharing over 250 joint customers with ServiceNow.

Central to Veza's platform is a metadata graph that organizes identities and their relationships to data across various systems and applications, complemented by a generative AI interface adding natural-language explainability and intent-driven search for users.

Identity management solutions have boomed as of late due to the rise in AI agents, spurring Palo Alto Networks’ recent $25 billion acquisition of identity and privileged access management (IAM/PAM) vendor CyberArk.

The likes of CrowdStrike meanwhile have begun releasing solutions to help network teams identify between human users, machine accounts, and AI agents.

Like most vendors, ServiceNow offers its own agents for IT service management (ITSM) automation, as powered by Nvidia’s Llama Nemotron AI models. The company bought agentic platform Moveworks for approximately $2.85 billion this year, adding to earlier AI acquisitions such as Logik.ai, Element AI, and Cuein AI.

The ITSM giant has also acquired cybersecurity names such as BrightPoint Security over the years, building up its services in security operations, platform security, and risk management.

The Veza deal could be announced next week but is yet to be finalized, according to sources.

ServiceNow said it had no comment on the matter in response to the report.
