Semtech Corporation announced enhanced support for Anterix’s 900 MHz private spectrum in its AirLink XR60 5G router, aimed at utility networks. This integration allows utilities to build resilient communication networks and supports the adoption of private LTE and 5G standalone capabilities.
The AirLink XR60 5G router offers versatile connectivity tailored to the demands of utility networks. With the addition of Anterix’s spectrum, standardized as band 106 under 3GPP Release 18, the router now supports critical communication for energy and utility sectors. It is designed to enhance grid stability and operational continuity.
Utilities benefit from 900 MHz private LTE standards, offering capabilities such as visibility, quality-of-service (QOS), reliability, and resilience. The inclusion of a five-year service package with technical support and remote management through AirLink Management Service (ALMS) enables easier scaling of router deployments.
Kinana Hussain, vice president of networking solutions at Semtech, stated, “The integration of Anterix support into our AirLink XR60 5G router is transformative for utility operators. This advancement not only enables seamless adoption of private networks but also empowers utilities to future-proof their infrastructure while enhancing the resiliency, efficiency, and security critical to their operations.”
Steve Ryan, vice president of ecosystem and partnerships at Anterix, expressed satisfaction with the collaboration, noting that it expands the reach of common technologies for utilities. Trial units of the AirLink XR60 with Anterix support are expected in mid-2025, with commercial availability expected in the fall.
